Hi and welcome to Waiting on Wednesday! Originally hosted at Breaking the Spine, Waiting on Wednesday has now linked up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings.
Since it’s still #Orentober and you’re probably getting tired of hearing me yapping all the time, I thought it would be fun to ask a few other Orenda fans what their most anticipated Orenda books are! (Also, I’m a nosy Parker so I’m dying to know which Orenda book people are desperate to get their hands on 😬)
I’ve already had Yvo and Mart over and today, I’m honoured to announce that FromBelgiumWithBookLove remains just that, since my guest for the day is none other than Eva from Novel Deelights! Eva once confessed that she’s an Orenda fan (actually she used a very different word which shall not be repeated here cos I don’t want Karen to whip out her red pen and have at it on my pretty blog ?) so I definitely had to invite her here for #Orentober! BUT I had to establish some rules because I could hardly feature the same book three weeks in a row… Eva and rules though… *sigh*
So here is how that invitation went, and our ensuing conversation, according to Eva…
K : So, hey, which Orenda book is your most anticipated read?
E : Ah, well, definitely …
K : You can’t say I Am Dust by Louise Beech.
E : What? But …
K : Or Beast by Matt Wesolowski.
E : Seriously? But those are like top of …
K : Sorry, them’s the rules.
E : Whose rules?
K : 😏
E : Hm, well then. If I can’t talk about Louise Beech’s immense talent for writing beautiful stories that tear your heartstrings apart and make you cry like a baby or the deliciously creepy and dark stories Matt Wesolowski comes up with time and time again or Johana Gustawsson’s next book in the Roy and Castells series because we actually don’t know anything about that yet … then the most obvious choice is Thomas Enger and Death Deserved.
K : Saw that coming a mile away!
E : Is this where the pretty picture goes?
K : Yes, yes 🙄

K: Happy now?
E : Uh huh.
K : *sighs* Think you can focus long enough to actually tell us what the book is about and why you want to read it so badly?
E : Uh huh. What? Oh! Yes! Of course!
Well, I was a huge fan of the Henning Juul series and was immensely sad when it came to an end. Even now, looking back over those five books, I remain utterly impressed at how well that entire series was plotted from beginning to end. It just blew my mind. Watching Henning Juul’s character develop and mature was such a privilege. Furthermore, Thomas Enger and that series introduced me to Scandi-Noir so for that reason alone it will forever hold a special place in my heart. But since that journey has come to an end, I am now incredibly excited to see where Thomas Enger takes this new character of Alexander Blix in his brand-new series. He already sounds like a fantastic and intriguing character and I can’t wait to meet him in Death Deserved.
Alrightie! For now, you’ll have to make do with the pretty picture of the author, because the cover is still a well-kept secret apparently! But I can tell you that Death Deserved is out in eBook in December and in paperback in February and this is what it’s all about:
Police officer Alexander Blix and celebrity blogger Emma Ramm join forces to track down a serial killer with a thirst for attention and high-profile murders, in the first episode of a gripping new Nordic Noir series…
Oslo, 2018. Former long-distance runner Sonja Nordstrøm never shows at the launch of her controversial autobiography, Always Number One. When celebrity blogger Emma Ramm visits Nordstrøm’s home later that day, she finds the door unlocked and signs of a struggle inside. A bib with the number ‘one’ has been pinned to the TV.
Police officer Alexander Blix is appointed to head up the missing-persons investigation, but he still bears the emotional scars of a hostage situation nineteen years earlier, when he killed the father of a five-year-old girl. Traces of Nordstrøm soon show up at different locations, but the appearance of the clues appear to be carefully calculated … evidence of a bigger picture that he’s just not seeing…
Blix and Ramm soon join forces, determined to find and stop a merciless killer with a flare for the dramatic, and thirst for attention.
Trouble is, he’s just got his first taste of it…
Thanks for joining Eva and me today! Are you a Thomas Enger fan like Eva, or a newbie like me (I’ve only read Inborn and I’ll have to look into those Henning Juul books before Eva decides she won’t speak to me anymore ?), tell me below!

Haha brilliant post! ❤ I confess I’ve yet to try his books (I blame the giant TBR mountain), but I definitely want to! Now only the dilemma to read his finished series new, or start fresh with this new series… Because finding time for five books is a long shot. xD Decisions, decisions!
Good to know I’m not alone ? Karen (@karlou) reshared a Juul Henning review today and she read it in February and called it FebJuulary, so I may have a FebJuulary now too in a few months ??
