#Orentober is here!! Let’s have an @OrendaBooks party! Go #TeamOrenda!

Hi and welcome to #Orentober!

In case you missed it last year: #Orentober is all about turning the spotlights on all things Orenda Books, my favourite indie publisher. My #Orentober buddy Danielle (check out The Reading Closet) and I are throwing another Orenda Books party and you’re all invited 🎉

Lately, I have noticed that I have become rather jaded as a reader. I guess it can’t be avoided, I read a lot of books, I’m a fast reader and I spend a lot of my time reading, and I often come across books that seem a little (or a lot) interchangeable, from their covers (women walking away from the photographer in brightly coloured jackets, anyone?) to their plots. That’s not to say I’ve stopped enjoying said books altogether, I haven’t, but it’s made me a whole lot more appreciative of unique books, original books, books that defy genres, books that ignore moulds and casts, books that politely nod to bookish conventions but remain free spirits, books that acknowledge boundaries and then jump over them dauntlessly, in a word: Orenda books.

It’s been a tough year for everyone. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s felt like a supporting character in a bad dystopian novel this year. When lots of people seemed to have more time during lockdown, I seemed to have less, I often struggled with work, I sometimes struggled with reading, I struggled even more with reviewing. I questioned the wisdom of powering through with #Orentober. However, if there was ever a time to celebrate an indie publisher, this is it. Indie publishers in general have taken a beating, and Orenda Books have been hit even worse with Momma Orenda out for the count with COVID-19.

So #TeamOrenda, please unite! Spread the word! Recommend your favourite Orenda book to another reader, share your reviews, old and new, pick up that unread Orenda book from your TBR and talk / tweet / blog about it, add a new Orenda book to your TBR, or better still: add a few! Whatever you do, be sure to use the hashtag #Orentober (and feel free to tag me).

Want to buy an Orenda book? Note that all eBooks can be bought directly from the Orenda eBookstore!

What will #Orentober look like on FromBelgiumWithBookLove? There will be reviews, Music Mondays, interviews, First Line Fridays, … Please stop by whenever you can, and help me celebrate Orenda Books 📚💜
