#BiteSizeSaturday ft. The Third Wheel by @fellfromfiction & Viral by @TheOnlyMikeJ

Happy #BiteSizeSaturday! Today I’d like to take a look at 2 novels that I was fortunate enough to read via The Pigeonhole and that have a few other things in common as well: they both made me laugh out loud and they both have a sci-fi element while set in the present. So even if you’re not a sci-fi fan, these deserve your attention, so read on to find out more!

As always: massive thanks to The Pigeonhole, the authors and the publishers for the opportunity to read these for free, and for allowing me to read outside my comfort zone and finding some very enjoyable reads.

Alright, now we have the introductions out of the way, let’s get down to business and take a look at bite no. 1 of today: The Third Wheel by Michael J. Ritchie.

I feel like I can’t do this book justice, no matter what I tell you about it. I’ve been chewing on it for weeks! I told its lovely author Michael this and he told me to tell you to just buy it and read it. So kids, listen up: buy and read The Third Wheel! But if you want a little more to go on before you do, let me tell you this:
The Third Wheel is a fun and funny story, but not a flimsy read. It’s about friendship, it’s somewhat dystopian, it has an alien invasion, and one of the most loveable and funniest protagonists ever: Dexter, who is single and also the only single person in his circle of friends who are all coupled up and as such, he makes some very astute observations about couples and relationships. Then come the aliens and all bets are off… If you’re in the mood for something different, a read that refuses to be stuffed into one single box, do check this out!

If you’re hungry for more (and I do hope you are!) let’s take a look at the other bite I have for you today: Viral by Mike Jeavons.

Viral is a story about, well, in a word and pardon my French, wankers. Wankers, literally and figuratively, in a kind of iRobot / Transformers gone horribly wrong. Chad and his brother / employer Sam have a well and truly fucked-up relationship. Sam is always making fun of Chad, until Chad snaps and breaks his brother’s nose. As payback Sam hacks Chad’s webcam, records him jerking off and posts that video online. And it all goes downhill from there. A light and funny story on the surface, that tackles some current issues on a whole other level: forgiveness and revenge, the online community, online trolling and offline bullying, the fact that anyone can post anything online and there will always be people who believe what they read, … A very entertaining read that I’d happily recommend.

That was it for today, hope you had fun! As always: if you want to know more, just holla ?
