Hi and welcome to FromBelgiumWithBookLove where today I’d like to talk about my bookish challenges for this year!
I noticed last year that setting clear challenges and keeping track of them here really helps, so I decided to do it again this year. The goal is not to put pressure on myself, but to help me focus and to motivate me. If anything, I want to be less obsessed with reading than I was last year.
The GoodReads Challenge:
I set my challenge at 200 books, like I’ve done for the last couple of years.
The Series Challenge:
Finish the Shardlake Series (3 books to go). I’ve been enjoying this series and I’d love to finish it this year.
Read the Anna Fekete Series (3 books). I have the entire series but I haven’t read a single page, now’s the time!
Finish the Sturmtaucher Trilogy (2 books to go). I just finished the first book and I loved it, but the sequels are even bigger and they’re daunting because of it, so even I though I really want to read them, I think I might need the extra nudge.
The Stephen King Challenge:
Read at least 5 Stephen King novels. I nailed this challenge last year but there are still quite a few King novels I want to read so I decided to challenge myself again.
The Agatha Christie Challenge:
Read at least 5 Agatha Christie novels. A challenge I had fun with last year and want to continue this year.
The Spanish Challenge:
Read at least 10 Spanish books. I will try to read one each month, but I do have some longer ones on the TBR so I’m cutting myself some slack.
The Non-Fiction Challenge:
Read at least 5 non-fiction books. I surprised myself with this challenge last year but I’m afraid I’ll slack off if I don’t challenge myself again.
The Classics Challenge:
Read at least 5 classics / modern classics, including a Dickens and a Shakespeare.
The FairyLoot Challenge:
Read at least 7 FairyLoot novels.
The Physical #BeatTheBacklog Challenge:
Read at least 7 novels that have been gathering dust on my physical Mount TBR and don’t belong to any of the above categories.
I will also try to clear some of my digital backlog but I’m not aiming for a particular number. Like last year, I will also try to read some of my newly bought books in the same month I buy them instead of just adding them to the pile. And once again I will try to show restraint in buying books, accepting proofs and blog tours and requesting NetGalley ARCs. But we all know that’s a slippery slope, it’s day 7 and I’ve already bought 3 😳😂
I think that about sums it up. Thanks for joining me today, wish me luck!
Good luck and happy reading! I was also too obsessed with reading last year haha.
Thanks Laurie! Happy reading to you too!
Good luck!
Thank you!
Concentrate less on reading? Surely you have to hit that 500 mark this year! 😏
Only if I find a sponsor so I can quit my day job… You volunteering? 😂
I totally need to do the Fairyloot challenge. The only ones I read last year were ones that I happened to have as ARCs. And that was maybe 3 or 4. It’s such a shame to have these books just sitting there unread that sound so interesting. Maybe I’ll go put them in my schedule right now and see if it sticks. Awesome list of challenges, Kelly!
Thanks Tessa! And good luck with your FairyLoot reads!
Now this is the way you set goals, being specific! Good luck, Kelly💜 Looks like you’ve chosen challenges that fit your reading tastes.
Good Luck Kelly!!
Thanks Jill!
Good luck Kelly!
Thanks Lorna!
Good luck with all your goals, Kelly! I hope you have an amazing 2022 ☺
Thanks Stephen! Happy reading!
For me there are two Shardlakes left. Thanks to you I put them on my reading pile for this year. 🙂
Yay! Happy reading!
